THE BUNKER

The Bunker was christened so by our plumber because the bath and water-closet had to literally be excavated out of the hill that we stand on. While the name stuck, the lodging has anything but a bunker feel to it. This open plan living, dining and kitchenette is furnished among other things, with a beautifully restored French style day bed, and the old fashioned tile stove that heats the Pergola House and Bunker commands its royal presence here. We have created a cosy seating area next to the furnace with 100+ year old beams that were a part of the original house.

The steps lead up to the bedroom area which opens onto a private terrace where we hope you will enjoy countless cups of your favourite beverage and perhaps pen notes to your loved ones. All while you admire the beautiful views that it affords.

The bedroom itself is spacious and quite grand. Here too, the four poster bed is custom made with restored ancient beams from the original house. We have zoned off a seating area in the bedroom with furniture that is a treasured flee-market find and one that we hope you find most comfortable to read your dog eared paperback in.

The art on these walls is a mix of high street digs and treasures from various global jaunts. The mouthwatering photography of the souk in Marrakesh is a Kovacs Gabor original! And yes, my gifted photographer husband will share his treasure trove of photographs if you ask. Nicely.
